Course Information:
Enroll in History 310 2/GH or History 390 3GH

Course Structure: (two sections)
- A three-credit section on campus Spring Semester 2018
- A one-credit field study (two and a half weeks) in China in Summer 2018. *It fulfills COR 2 or COR 3 requirement and satisfies the History and Global studies requirements in the General Education Program.

Course Description:
A field study of contemporary Chinese history and society,
the course will focus on interactions of Confucian values
and the force of modernity. Topics include: women, family structure, political expression, authoritarian rule, religious practice, Chinese villages, urban development, mass communication, economic system, foreign relations,popular culture, etc.
